i shall start the movie post with an interesting piece of news .. read here .. seriously all those ‘talkers’ out there should read this and be scared .. personally tho – i dont really feel like shooting someone who talks during a movie but instead i wish i have like long whip with those balls at the end of it so that i could just whip those ppl from wherever im sitting to however far theyre sitting .. that would be nice .. or those ninja stars – where i could just silently um silent them .. heh

stars brad pitt and cate blanchett .. so far so good .. saw the trailer – i thot it was ok .. its a weird movie – as in the guy s growing younger and not older .. im not THAT excited about it cos its a love/romance movie – NOT really a big fan of those .. but still – i like david finchers work – so this is a MUST

 

slumdog millionaire

to me, everything danny boyle touches turns to GOLD – movie gold .. i dont care what other ppl say (especially about ‘a life less ordinary’) this guy is extremely talented to me .. i dont think that theres any movie he made that i didnt LOVE .. from ‘trainspotting’ to ‘millions’ .. aliens or romantic comedy – this guy will always get my vote for best director .. ok theres also that nolan guy – but boyle is one of the best .. anyway – point is – even if he made a movie entitled ‘shit’ and all reviewers gave it a 1 of 10 rating – id STILL watch it and most probably give it a 9.5 / 10 rating .. heh .. thats how biased i am .. hey this dude gave us ewan mcgregor! .. i could not ask for more (well actually i could cos he somehow stopped using ewan in his movies – of course ewan has prolly gone all hollywood and obiwan kenobi n shit – but still – it would be schweet if he uses ewan back) .. anyway .. this movie has been getting soo much good reviews – i thinks its even tipped to win ‘best picture’ for various major awards and boyle as ‘best director’ … time magazine called it a “buoyant hym to life” .. whatever that means .. but whatever – u know how i feel about this – im going to give it a 9.5/10 even before ive seen it .. heh .. so there

ok if u dont already know how obsessed i am with pets .. please refer previous posts … so naturally id wanna watch this and empty a box of kleenex at the same time .. i think its going to be one of those coming of age / life lessons kinda movie .. its about a girl with not much money moving to alaska to start a new life (dont they always do this – but ‘starting a new life’ makes interesting movies tho.. heh) .. and she has a dog and then dog goes missing .. and ill be crying .. and i dont really what happens at the end – but seriously if the dog dies – im gonna slap someone

its really weird that i did not write a review for this movie cos i was really into this movie when it came out .. think i saw it like gajillions of times .. not really obsessed with it like a comic book fanboy crapping in pants would but still .. i was mini-obsessed about it .. and upon seeing this poster from themovieblog – it evoked such fond memories .. heh .. ok obsessed slobbering fanboy mode ON .. I FRIKKIN LOVE THIS PART – the INTRO is AMAZING .. i wouldve been satisfied had the intro been the total movie .. heh .. deprived but satisfied .. cos the intro was really great and didnt show the jokers face for the most part and … ok im hyperventilating now .. lets just put it as – the intro was extremely amazing .. havent seen any intro in a movie as amazing as that

i second that guy who proposed to change the ‘OSCARS’ to the ‘LEDGER’ cos this due just killed it .. ok maybe i should not use that word out of respect .. ok um so he nailed it .. forget sean penn in ‘i am sam’ or al pacinos ‘scarface’ or whatever – THIS is it right here .. toppest notch (heh) acting .. the face make-up really helps cos with that we do not see ledger AT ALL .. its like ‘who the hell is that and where the hell did that ’10 things I hate about you’ dude went?’ .. and this is one of those schweet surprises that i just LOVE .. u know like getting good stuff from someone u least expected – i mean whodve thot heath ledger would be such a good joker .. used to think he was bleh – and i didnt even watch ‘first knight’ couldnt bear it .. it was until i saw Lords of Dogtown that i knew this guy could be a bit wacky and whos not one of those actors who cared bout how good he looks – cos he looked pretty shitty in Lords .. heh thinning hair n stuff .. so when he was announced as joker i was like ok – i oculd see him be all goofy .. heh .. but of course he wasnt goofy .. he was freaky pscyho scary .. yes thats it .. and it was marvellous .. and i think apart from the kick ass movie ppl really came back for seconds (or thirds or fifths) to watch him .. i mean the rest of the cast wasnt shabby – gary oldman .. heh .. FINALLY – his character was somewhat subdued but it speaks volumes .. i dunno how .. i admit that i was a bit disappointed with batman begins cos he had such a minimal role and its such a waste of a splendid actor .. but of course all that whining stopped with the dark knight .. heh .. gary oldman was great in this .. my second favorite character in this movie .. third favorite – harvey 2 face of course .. heh .. where did that guy come from .. heh .. i always confuse him with greg kinnear and i always thot his acting level was like gregs acting level .. u know like funny and fun to watch .. and not like damn – he could stand his own with the joker .. i mean i dont think greg kinnear couldve done that .. heh

so .. why do these oscar ppl need a reminder for? .. i mean its not like hollywoods been churning out countless of good shit since dark knight .. i have to admit – after the dark knight – watching other movies were like a so so experience for me .. and i dont think ive watched a lot of movie after that cos i dunno .. heh .. everything else seems not up to par .. heh .. serious

and seriously – so far – no one else compares – so .. if the best actor or supporting oscar goes to someone else .. it will be equivalent as giving the oscar to that irritating zach efron

2. the perfect game – im such a sucker for ‘inspirational’ movies like this .. and u betcha ill cry at the end .. plus clifton collins jr is super cool – anyone who doesnt know him should watch ‘capote’ and ‘trafiic’ ..
3. rock n rolla – mr madonnas newest shit .. looks cool enough .. if anyone asks – i think ritchie should just stick to making movies about ppl beating each other up .. cos that ‘swept away’ movie was beyond shite .. oh and im sorry – but was that gerard butler of 300 fame? .. where did the rest of him go?
4. hellboy – the golden army – not really looking forward to this one .. what i didnt like in the first film was hellboy himself – his wisecracks and not so funny one-liners .. and i see from the trailer that it will still be evident here .. but whatever – cos what i liked in the first was the eerie feeling it had .. its fantasy and in a creepy and bad way .. which is fine by me
5. mutant chronicles – is this one of those movies which are beautiful to watch but has like ZERO storyline and unbelievably bad acting? .. im there!
6. quantum of solace – havent seen casino royale .. but this looks cool .. bourne-ish .. who knows maybe id finally be able to sit thru a bond movie
7. burn after reading – LOVE this .. i forgot how idiotic and funny brad pitt can be .. definitely in my ‘most look forward to’ list
8. the wackness – looks good enough for me .. all except for mary kate olsens part .. why is she still acting?
9. boy a – honestly … i dont know anything about this movie .. is it french canadien? .. who knows .. i only wanted to watch it cos it has a cool poster .. and well glowing reviews (83%) from rottentomatoes
10. choke -  cos i like sam rockwell
11. gonzo : the life and work of dr. hunter s. thompson – any excuse to watch johnny depp .. and also i HAVE to know howd this guy get his “doctor” .. cos he crazy

rite .. ok so here goes .. ive downloaded all my pics in singapore to my moms laptop and now im using a pc so i cant be fucked to just bloody copy and paste from one thing to another .. so i guess itll hafta wait

so anyway … on a lighter note … heh .. ive realised that i havent been reading themovieblog for such a long time cos all of the news were so unfamiliar to me – i had to go back like 40 posts or something … ah well .. better late than never is what id say .. heh .. so i found a few things that tickled me fancy .. and i shall list it down right here right now …

• im NOT a bond fan at all – i dont think ive seen any bond film ever .. and even if i did try to see one … i would somehow lost interest midway and just forgot the whole thing altogether … but critics have been nice with the last bond film – the one with craig and i must say the next bond film looks pretty interesting .. or at least the poster does .. check it out

• and also .. al pacino as a bond villain? .. ok i think if theres any bond film that i should see for the first time – this would be IT .. i just know al pacino would be great in it .. that is of course based on the fact that hes great in everything he was in
• one of the movies that i would look forward to is Spread .. i dont really care what its about – but the title sounds kinda dirty .. well see… the fact that ashton kutcher is in this movie is NOT helping at all .. if it werent for David Mackenzie being the director of this movie – i wouldnt have given this movie a second thot – hell i wouldnt even read the post about it in movieblog .. anyway – the director also did Young Adam which i liked A LOT .. and Hallam Foe which i am DYING to see but just couldnt get my fucking hands on…
• i told you there will be Terminator 4 …and its going to be called ‘Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins’ … what a crappy longass title … how can a terminator be a salvation? .. whatever .. im pretty hating the fact that McG is directing this and christian bale is in it … ok if the two are working separately – id be fine with it .. in fact i totally LOVE Charlies Angels .. and of course i LOVE christian bale .. but putting bale and McG together is like trying to mix water and oil .. to very different substance that cant be mixed together … its just weird and wrong .. but well see how it turns out … now im just praying hard that theyd choose the girl properly .. can we just please for ONCE get the bloody girls RIGHT .. i want the casting and the character to be good – please … thank you

• IRONMAN .. ok i have to admit that i wasnt even remotely interested in this coming movie .. i thot ‘pffff another superhero movie .. whats new’ .. and altho it has robert downey jr in it (whom i totally love cos hes so sunny and fun to watch) i still wasnt convinced .. but after seeing the trailer .. i have totally turned 180 about this film .. all thanks to robert downey jr being who he is – funny and handsome .. heh … and gwyneth didnt look half as irritating the other superhero girls like rachel bilson or katie holmes. .. watch the trailer please – i swear its worth it

12 movies i didnt watch in 2007 (surprisingly..)

ahh .. good to be back blogging .. in case u didnt know – ive started using facebook .. hence the long absence … those damn things were fucking addictive – its like i HAVE to SUPERPOKE someone EVERYDAY .. i HAVE to .. and those graffiti walls … damn dont get me started on those graffiti walls – theyre practically BEGGING to be painted and doodled all over i tell ya … heh

well a week has passed and thats about the time where i usually get bored with the new things that ive discovered – or shall i say the novelty has worn off? .. or when in Rome … heh …

ok so new year yea? … lets start with the shit i miss last year .. by ‘shit’ i mean ‘movies’ … so got this movie list from one of my very trustworthy (movie-wise at least) site ‘pajiba’ and at first i was like aah ‘movies that u didnt watch in 2007 … how bad can that be … i mean i did my fair share of watching indie movies – so i mustve at least seen like 4 or 5 … AT LEAST’ …. and to my horror – i saw NONE of the movies listed in there .. i was like ‘WTFFFFFFF???’ … well maybe the movies that i saw in 2007 were not that nice – but i remember i saw some nice ones … so maybe that was from like 1988 or something .. malaysia is a lil bit late like that to get new shit … hell newest shit is prolly from 2000 .. if im lucky that is

heh .. stardust is in the list – and i didnt even watch THAT .. well taht was partly my fault – cos i thot it sucked .. and it didnt get a good review from the star … which gave ‘I am legend’ an A … which i shouldve not trusted because of that … heh .. ok ‘i am legend’ was OK at the very least – and then they had to kill off the dog … so from then on it was far from being ‘ok’ … NO KILLING OF THE ANIMALS IN A MOVIE UNLESS THE MOVIE IS TOTALLY ABOUT ANIMALS – like Bambi or sumn … then thats totally okay cos id know that apart from that sad incident – all is well in the animal kingdom … yes

ok first of all this must be the least likely best movie thatd id go and see .. why? well oh cos of a few things – i dont like that whole southern accent thing and i read reviews that its a real big problem here … rom/com = fuck/off … keri russell – shes been missing for sometime now .. i suppose she shoulda keep it that way …

and with all that being said – id still give it a try cos :- tomatometer gave it 89% and imdb – 7.5/10 … with all the other crap that ive watched – i dont think this would be really bad .. or otherwise it can just fit in well with the rest ..

– GONE BABY GONE

anything that ben affleck touches irritates the shit out of me … BUT i like casey affleck .. i loved him in all of the Ocean’s movie .. he and that other guy was funny in it … heh .. so ill watch it … heh … fuck off! tomato meter gave it 93% … no way – i thot only cartoons get above 90% .. shit! .. heh … i mean i dont think this can be better than Toy Story 2 .. well we’ll see … IMDB – 8/10 … not bad .. i think they took off some points when they found out that ben afflecks name is associated with the movie .. heh

long title – interesting .. phillip seymour hoffman and ethan hawke – not bad … from the director who did ‘dog day afternoon’ – impressive … tomatometer gave it 87% and IMDB -7.8/10 – cool! …. am i interested to watch it – YES …

– LARS AND THE REAL GIRL

ok im curious bout thsi movie cos ryan gosling is in it and everyones been raving about him … i bought ‘half nelson’ but have yet to watch it due to my dvd player being FUCT … which is sad … but i didnt watch the notebook cos the system in my wholebeing would repel such atrocious amount of vile aka ROMANCE movies .. so anyway tomatometer – 87% and IMDB – 8.3/10 … plot outline sez “A delusional young guy strikes up an unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet” … hmmm thats interesting – how do you talk to dolls on the net? .. and u know waht else would be interesting? … “Nadia and the Real Guy” .. hahah! – hopefully i wont go delusional and talk to dolls on the net or some shit like that … fingers crossed .. heh

was sposed to watch this – i like robert deniro .. but dunno – maybe the fantasy genre put me off … what with the influx of sci-fi films and fantasy type films nowadays such as Harry Potter n such … i just couldnt tell which would be good and which would be bad .. but i guess ill give this a go .. i like claire danes .. and that guy is cute – charlie cox .. oh and ian mckellan – always liked him … anyway .. its from the same guy who did ‘layer cake’ .. so i guess itll be cool … tomatometer – 75% … IMDB – 8.1/10

– DIGGERS

ok honestly – this movie doesnt sound or look interesting cept for the fact that paul rudds in it … i think i might have a minor crush on him … heh … so ill give it a go .. hes kinda cute … and funny … tomatometer – 70% and IMDB – 6.5/10

– THE HOST

hmmm … horror / monster type movie … PASS … ok maybe ill give it a chance since tomatometer gave it lik 92% … thats really fucking high .. heh … not reviewed byIMDB which is weird – maybe cos its a koreanfilm? … but usually imdb would have everything ..

– THE KING OF KONG (FISTFUL OF QUARTERS)

i can never understand the obsession with arcade games … i mean i can understand all this game madness but not the arcade type cos those are usually uncomfortable – yes from my wide experience of playing on it – prolly ive played like twice in my lifetime .. and that prolly lasted like 5 secs per game … yes i wasnt any good …

but anyway .. this is a documentary that got good reviews … SO ok … that has picqued me interest .. plus tomatometer sez its a holy 96% .. heh shiz! .. and imdb – 8.5/10 … so u know its good heh…

– ROCKET SCIENCE

this movie was made by the same guy who did ‘spellbound’ a documentary that got good reviews and also he did some episodes of The Office … so ill bet this will be full of those awkward geek comedy moments … and im all for it .. tomatometer – 85% and IMDB – 6.5/10

ive always liked phillip seymour hoffman … especially ever since he killed tom cruises wife in mission impossible … nah im kidding – ive always liked him tho … and i cant believe i just admitted i watched mi3 or whatever number that is … NO MORE … heh … anyway this movie sounds interesting – tomatometer – 91% and IMDB -8.1/10

ok i dont wanna say anything else but 98% on tomatometer … WTF???? … hahah thats nearly 100% man .. hows that possible … anyway i really wanna watch this movie cos its about a busker and his love life told in a modern-day musical … heh .. i kinda like musicals now – plus this sounds sooo interesting

fresh from watching ‘atonement’ – my new years resolution is to watch everything that has james mcavoy in it … yes … this guy has ARRESTING pair of eyes … seriously … im not one to say things like this – but u can see his emotions through his eyes .. heh .. hes a cool actor …can u believe he was mr tumnus from the lion, the witch and the wardrobe? .. like really? … why hide that handsome face in that weird 4 legged suit? … did i mention hes a good actor? .. i think i did … did i mention hes damn good looking with mesmerizing eyes? .. i think i did but its worth a second mention … ok so not only is this movie in my “MUST WATCH – as in ill try to find it til the ends of the earth” list but now so is ‘Wanted’ and ‘Last King of Scotland’ … heh by the way when i saw ‘wanted’s trailer which starred angelina jolie and mr handsome (james mcavoy NOT brad pitt) i thot … oh poop not another angelina jolie action movie AGAIN … she only made like 30 of em last year … and then i saw james mcavoy – he looked like your normal everyday guy there ..and i was like GREeeaaaAT now this average looking guy is gonna get a hottie like angelina and gets to shoot ppl and drive fast cars .. thats SO NEW .. not .. plus he looked younger than angelina – well its not wrong … just iono – funny .. anyway tomatometer-89% .. mcavoymeter-150% .. iMDB – 6.8/10

god im so glad i read the papers today … heh …

saw that theres a international film festival going on rite now at gsc .. its the ’8th european union film festival’ to be exact … i dont even know there was a first to the seventh … heh … its all good anyways .. its starting today til the 16th … my deciembre will be full at last … well at least the first half of it … heh .. im going to try to catch whatever thats interesting .. or picqued my interest .. most of the movies are so fucking late to be showing here … pff one of the movie is from 2001 even … but whatever – at least u kno that theyre showing the best to you – eventho its from later years … fuck at least tehyre showing SOMETHING to you other that the big blockbuster that is NANA TANJUNG 2 .. my god – malays cant even be creative when it comes to the blody title … nana tanjung 2 … shit would it have killed them to get a more fetching title … like nana tanjung strikes back … or the return of nana tanjung … or some shit like that … just drop the fucking 2 man … god
