okay I LOVE American Idol – im just gonna go ahead and put that up front … its a shame but its the truth … like it or not im addicted to it – well not addicted as in id go and bloody google about all the contestants and shit like that BUT addicted as in i would anticipate every single show like im anticipating my next paycheck … heh
so … my most favorite contestant has to be David Cook … second favorite would prolly be Micheal johns (he was my first favorite until he started slacking off and giving less than memorable performance) .. but i still think he has the best voice in that group … third favorite … hmmm … none … and that stupid country female singer shoulda got the boot since last 2 weeks when she COMPLETELY BUTCHERED the beatles song … thats the thing about giving these idiots the freedom to arrange their song – some will get it right and some will get it horribly wrong – point in case – female country singer whom i dont know her name … she deserves to be shot for that rendition of the beatles song – cant remember which one did she sang (dont want to or ill have nitemare for days) but i just remembered it was hill billy hideous…. so enough of that .. and that mickey mouse club reject david archuleta – i mean SERIOUSLY … what in HELL???… hes the most fucking bland singer ive ever seen … his voice is monotonous and he could only sing SLOW and sad songs … like simon said “how depressing” … i dont suppose u can build a career on those no matter how many teeny bopper girl fans u have … jeez … and what is up with all that grinning and smiling – he always have that stupid toothy grin and smile on his face which i feel contented to slap it off every single time
so yesterdays performance … my most favorite would be of course david cook’s billie jean … i thot that was amazing! up until i found out that he was doing chris cornells version of it … i mean i TOTALLY thot that it was his arrangement – cos if it was it would be amazing and he deserves to just bloody get the hell out of there and record a urm .. record … heh … so when idiot in a suit ryan pointed out that its chris cornells version of billie jean – i was thoroughly disappointed with david cook … but in retrorespect i shouldnt have felt that way cos :-
- however original anything is – it would still be a cover … so what david was doing was just covering a different version that I personally shouldve known existed – what with chris cornell being one of my favorite singer …. BUT in my defense – he DID joined and in fact formed audioslave which i could totally NOT get at all … so that put me off any of his work for a very very verrrry long time … i was in fact totally contented in spinning old soundgarden songs or temple of the dog songs … so
- david actually made us all a favor by bringing that version of billie jean to our attention … i mean i guess only die hard chris cornell fans wouldve known that existed
- altho he didnt mention that hes singing chris cornells version – he did mention a few times before (for other songs) that he would look for a cover of a particular song (esp rock ones) so that hed get to do something different … so its not like hes passing anything off as his own
- he actually did a good job of it … seriously … i liked chris’ version of it … but i also liked davids version … although the arrangement is the same – he did change it around a bit with the vocals … i mean NO ONE can do chris cornell … but thing is – ive always thot that chris has this ‘im in total pain’ kinda vibe with his voice … its just too fucking intense … and after listening to any of his slow songs where he’d stretch and strain his voice – id be feeling like i just got out of a sauna … heh .. serious … its just too intense … i dunno cant describe it but i love it … so davids voice is more u know – radio friendly rock voice – think lifehouse and that other and which i completely forgot – the boy who also had a hit with santana … shit … cant remember anything right now … nevermind
